His debut novel Looking for Alaska (2005) was awarded the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award. His third novel, Paper Towns, is a New York Times bestseller and won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best YA Mystery.
Published in 2012, The Fault in Our Stars is one of the best-selling books of all time. In 2014 the book was adapted into a movie directed by Josh Boone and starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff.
But where does the title come from? Why is the fault in our stars? Well, Mr. John Green was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, in which the nobleman Cassius says to Brutus: "Men at some time were masters of their fates, / The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings."
Hold on tight, dear readers, as we are going to explore the funny, thrilling, and tragic story of being alive and in love.
